A sudden drop in temperatures as well as heavy snow across parts of northern China led to road closures and ferry cancelations, Reuters reported, citing state media. Temperatures in Beijing over the weekend dropped to 8 degrees Celsius while some areas of Inner Mongolia reported temperatures as low as minus 45 degrees Celsius. Snow shut down highways in Shandong and Hebei province and ferries across the Bohai Sea were canceled. Flights were delayed and canceled in airports in Shandong and Tianjin. The cold weather is expected to move further south this week. Unseasonably cold weather in central and southern China in February of this year led to 129 deaths and disrupted transport lines during the Lunar New Year holiday.
