Congress warns Europe on arms sales to China

Senior US lawmakers said if Europe lifts its arms embargo against China, the US may retaliate, jeopardizing joint military projects and technology sales to European companies. The New York Times reported that since President Bush's first term, the mainland has launched the world's most ambitious military buildup, ordering 13 new attack submarines and 23 new amphibious assault ships capable of ferrying tanks, armored vehicles and troops across the Taiwan strait to Taiwan.
