Cosco is set to offer three more trans-Pacific services in April as slot-swap agreements are initiated with partner lines. With eight separate services linking Asia and the US west coast, Cosco will emerge as one of the largest providers of container slots on the Pacific.
Over recent months, the formation of a new alliance between Cosco, K Line and Yangming, together with the United Alliance lines Hanjin and Senator, has taken shape as the lines finalised plans to offer the industry a new alliance structure.
Cosco’s new three-string Pacific coverage is set to also include slots on new services to be operated by Yangming and K Line capacity. These loops are in addition to the trans- Pacific links Cosco already has in place through its own services, which deploy 16 vessels in total, and offer blanket coverage of the China coastline. Calls are made at Xiamen, Ningbo, Shanghai, Tianjin, Dalian, Qingdao, Chiwan and Hong Kong.
