Country rankings, Buying gold, Green technology, and Chinese tourism

Some China-related numbers you may have missed:

92: The ranking China received on the list of most developed countries according to an index compiled by the UN Development Program. China moved up seven places on the list due to improvements in education as well as income levels and life expectancy.

25kg: The number of golden bars a retired professor in Nanjing bought for US$848,304.48

$10t: The cost for China and the world to make the necessary investments in green technology from 2010 to 2030, according to the International Energy Agency. China overtook the United States as the world’s top polluter in 2007.

200m: The forecasted number of tourists on China’s mainland over the National Day holiday, according to the China Tourism Academy. Tourist income was expected to be more than US$14.7 billion, an increase of 25% over the same period of last year.
