The State Council announced that economic growth appears to be slowing to acceptable levels but that credit controls will be maintained. The announcement came after a meeting in Beijing where the State Council concluded that the economy is in good shape but still faces over investment in some sectors, as well as shortages of raw materials and energy. During the meeting, council members also discussed measures to combat summer floods, food safety supervision and other issues.
