China Shipping Container Lines (CSCL) has added a westbound call at Malta on its Asia/Europe Express service as an interim measure before re-instating calls at Valencia on the service in November.
CSCL plans at least five consecutive westbound calls at Malta on the service before the official continuation of Valencia calls. These calls are being made to address increasing Mediterranean transhipment demand. CSCL is dropping a Middle East call at Salalah on this service to accommodate the move.
Salalah will be served by the new US west coast/Asia/Mediterranean service that is being launched by CSCL and Norasia with 12 ships, each around 2,700 teu capacity.
