China Shipping Container Lines (CSCL) has revised the European port rotation on its Asia/Europe service, making Antwerp the last outbound call instead of Hamburg. As from the end of this month, it will also make only fortnightly eastbound calls at Valencia and Port Kelang, instead of weekly. The move is in response to market changes that are seeing full ships westbound, but empty containers and an imbalanced trade flowing eastbound.
CSCL recently dropped Qingdao and Tianjin as direct calls. The service now stops at Shanghai, Ningbo, Xiamen, Chiwan, Hong Kong and Port Kelang, then heads west for Valencia and northern Europe. Ships are being upgraded with the introduction of eight new post-panamax ships.
