China Shipping Container Lines (CSCL) will use Hanjin Shipping's Long Beach container terminal from June 2004. The Long Beach terminal in California is located on the western side of the middle harbour and is operated by Total Terminals International. It is capable of handling the latest 8,000+ teu vessels, five of which will be delivered to CSCL starting in 2005.
CSCL presently calls at the TransPac terminal in Los Angeles on its transpacific services. The move to Long Beach virtually confirms that CSCL will be operating its new 8,100 teu vessels on the transpacific from delivery in 2005. Currently, CSCL's largest ships on this trade are 4,500 teu vessels.
