The zone, which was started in 1992, covers some 12.3 km2 and its major investors are an exotic mixture of the Dandong City Government, the Inchon Government of South Korea and ENFEI Garments.
Authorized as a state-level development Zone by the State Council of China, Dandong Border Economic Cooperation Zone (DDBECZ) is located in the largest border city of China, Dandong. In this illustration the bridge on the left of the picture serves as the major link between North Korea and the outside world.
DDBECZ consists of several subzones, including the Business and Tourism Section, Port Trade Area, Gold Spring Industrial Section and Dandong Port Bonded Warehousing & Processing Area.
Over 1,200 investors from 18 countries and regions worldwide have started their business in DDBECZ.
The Inchon Industrial Park of South Korea in Dandong, for example, was jointly invested and constructed by Dandong Government and Inchon Government of South Korea. The Park is located in the Gold Spring Industrial Section.
Eye4China reports that the master plan of the zone includes another high-tech industrial park and an 8-km long development belt from the Yalu River Bridge to Jiangwan Industrial Area in Langtou town.
