Dangdang to set up logistics site

Dangdang.com, a New York-listed Chinese company patterned after Amazon.com, intends to set up a platform that will bring together China’s leading express delivery companies and e-commerce firms to improve their logistical services.

Alibaba recently announced a somewhat similar scheme.

The planned site is expected to cover some 1,200 domestic cities and offer cash on delivery services.

Zhang Yun, a vice president with dangdang.com, said, “Cooperating with express firms is a win-win solution that is letting professional companies concentrate on their core businesses.”

Global Times quoted industry watchers as saying both Dangdang and Alibaba’s platforms will be helpful for some logistics firms.
