Officials signed agreements for 473 infrastructure and transport projects worth a total of US$29 billion on the opening day of the Pan-Pearl River Delta regional trade symposium in Guangzhou. Seven government-promoted projects accounted for half that amount, remaining 466 company to company deals the other half. The event drew representatives from Fujian, Jiangxi, Guizhou, Sichuan, Yunnan, Hunan, Hainan and Guangdong provinces, the Guangxi autonomous region and the Hong Kong and Macau special administrative regions. Guangdong province governor Huang Huahua said that the Pan-Pearl River Delta agreements would speed up implementation of the Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement.
