Production of China’s first commercial jet has fallen behind schedule and delivery could be delayed to as late as 2020, Reuters reported, citing unnamed sources. With a passenger load of 156-168, the narrow-body Comac C919 is aiming to compete with the Airbus A320 and Boeing 737, but now looks likely to be grounded, its maiden flight pushed back until the first half of 2016. That would make the plane late to the market and technologically inferior to the re-engined and improved variants of competitors’ jets set to begin service in the next two years.
