Dell 'green' packaging

Dell will be using bamboo – which comes in an astonishing variety of sizes and styles – as a replacement for paper, plastic and plastic foam packaging.

Bamboo packagingDell is switching to crushed bamboo for material to protect some of its computer models. This is the perfect green packing material coming, as it does, in an astonishing variety of styles (over a thousand speciesand being totally bio-degradeable.
 
Now the molded cushions that protect two Dell computer models from damage during shipping will be made of crushed bamboo, acting as a sort of compressed paper.

This is not a new idea. Bamboo was being used as paper in China as early as the 5th century. 

 
NewsOK points out that Dell’s bamboo comes from China’s Jiangxi Province, which is far from the grazing grounds of the endangered giant panda.
