Dell, the world's number one computer maker, is facing hundreds of lawsuits in China from consumers who bought laptop computers containing a different processor than advertised, the Wall Street Journal reported. Dell executives contend they simply made an error by failing to update marketing materials after changing the processor in Inspiron 640M laptops to a US$32 cheaper model. The company has apologized for the error, and says it has offered full refunds for consumers who want them. Needham & Co analyst Charles Wolf told the newspaper the impact on Dell is likely to be financially inconsequential, but could have a "nominal" negative impact on Dell's reputation in a region where it is trying to increase market share.
