Demand boost for domestic tourism

The Chinese government intends to stimulate domestic demand. In 2009, domestic tourism earnings topped RMB1 trillion.

The ongoing rollout of China’s high-speed rail network is central to boosting demand for internal travel in China.

New 350 km per hour train services include Wuhan-Guangzhou, Shanghai-Nanjing and Shanghai-Hangzhou lines and there are many more planned.
BizChina Update says another boost to tourism  may come from Asian budget airlines, which are gradually being permitted to launch routes between Chinese cities and Southeast Asia.
