Australian travel to China is increasing as rapidly as Chinese travel to Australia. According to Andrew Yell, acting managing director of Creative Holidays, "Growth in sales of accommodation, sightseeing packages and mini-stays in Beijing, Shanghai and Xian show that China’s iconic sites like the Great Wall and Terracotta Warriors have strong appeal."
Independent travel is also increasing with new land-only packages being offered.
China Southern will be increasing air capacity from Australia to China following its strategic partnership agreement with Tourism Australia. There are now twice daily flights between Sydney and Guangzhou and Melbourne and Guangzhou.
Travel Weekly reports that flights from Brisbane to Guangzhou have increased to three times a week.
