China’s State Post Bureau (SPB) has approved a development plan for express delivery services in southern China’s Pearl River Delta during 2010-2014 in a bid to push forward integration, coordination and internationalisation of the region’s express services.
SPB proposes that the region guide express enterprises into the service supply chain of the manufacturing industry and promote the integration of express delivery services and e-commerce.
CargoNews Asia reports that meanwhile, calls are being made for the region to establish a coordinating mechanism between express delivery services and the governmental departments covering urban development, transportation, commerce, finance, customs, quarantine and inspection, and taxation.
SPB is also encouraging small and mid-size express companies to expand their regional intercity and urban express delivery services.
