DHL launches China-Vietnam overland route

Sounds romantic. DHL has launched a cross-border China-Vietnam truck freight service to connect major cities in China with emerging logistics centers in Vietnam.

The new overland logistics route "links major Chinese cities such as Beijing, Dongguan, Fuzhou, Guangzhou, Nanjing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Suzhou, Tianjin, Wuhan and Zhongshan with Vietnamese cities including Hanoi, Haiphong, Danang and Ho Chi Minh City."

The writer has a commercial vehicle licence and would be happy to drive the route at no charge. And bring his own sandwiches.

BizChina Update reports that the test run, a 2,500km pilot cross-border run featured cargo for Ericsson, departed from Nanjing via Pingxiang in Guangxi province, and arrived at the company’s warehouse in Hanoi on five day later.

China Biz News reports "compared with ocean freight, the trucking service can shave up to ten days off the transit time."
