DHL has enhanced its connectivity (PR-speak for extra sailings) between South China and North America with the launch of new direct weekly LCL services from Shenzhen to New York. (For those who do not instantly recognize the acronym LCL — which is most of us — it stands for less than a container load. (It could also stand for Lateral Collateral Ligament or lymphoblastoid cell line or Lunar Cargo Lander but it is thought that is not what is meant in this case.) Our illustration shows an employee with a parcel which is definitely LCL.From New York, shipments can be further distributed to nine other cities along the US east coast and central regions within five days, for a total transit time of 31 days from Shenzhen to Baltimore, Boston, Buffalo, Philadelphia, Pittsburg, Richmond, Rochester and Washington DC.
Operated by DHL Global Forwarding’s in-house carrier, Danmar Lines, the new direct weekly LCL service reduces transit time between the two destinations by at least four days.
Eye for Transport reports that DHL recently strengthened its existing weekly Hong Kong to Los Angeles LCL direct service with an additional sailing each week to meet increasing demand for ocean freight LCL services.
