Domestic copycats will topple Facebook in China, says Sohu.com chairman

Facebook, operator of the world’s most popular social networking site, will not be able to compete in China against local internet companies, said Sohu.com (SOHU.NASDAQ) chairman Charles Zhang, Bloomberg reported. While Facebook’s website is currently inaccessible in the country, Zhang, speaking at the World Economic Forum’s Summer Davos meeting in Tianjin, said the US company’s services will be "copied and learned" by domestic web developers. Although very popular in other Asian nations such as India and Indonesia, Facebook has failed to spread its popularity to China, where the web service has been blocked since last year.
