The National Development and Reform Commission expects economic growth to average 7.5% a year over the next five years, said sources cited by the South China Morning Post. Average annual growth of 8.8% has achieved over the last five years. To attain the last five-year plan's target of doubling the 2000 GDP by 2010, an annual increase of 5.7% is needed, economists said. But to double 2000 per capita GDP by 2010 would require an annual growth rate of 7.18%.
