Embraer presented its view of the Chinese market for 2010-2029 on the opening day of Airshow China 2010 which was held in Zhuhai, Guangdong province.
Embraer forecasts a total demand of 950 new regional jets over the next 20 years, consisting of 20 aircraft with 30-60 seats, 425 with 61-90 seats and 505 with 91-120 seats.
Guan Dongyuan, president of Embraer China, said, "Since we delivered the first jet in China in 2000, the fleet now in operation totals 77 airplanes. . .making Embraer the major supplier of airplanes up to 120 seats in the country."
NewsWireToday reports that the forecast takes into account the rapid development of the Chinese high-speed train system. Guan said regional aviation will continue playing an indispensable role because high-speed trains concentrate on high density markets, while regional aviation will expand into the low- and mid-density sectors.
