The European Commission has told China to open up its market further to imports from European car manufacturers or face a legal challenge at the World Trade Organization, the Financial Times reported. Brussels said that car manufacturers from the European Union still faced obstacles in China, including "favoritism towards domestic producers, investment restrictions, local content constraints and weak enforcement of intellectual property rights". The possibility of an EU trade challenge against China was raised as part of a package of measures proposed by a Commission-sponsored group tasked with examining ways of boosting Europe's car industry.
