EU probes China, India shoe exports

The European Commission began an anti-dumping investigation Thursday into whether China and India are exporting cheap shoes in Europe at below cost, the Wall Street Journal reported. The EU recently resolved a textile export dispute with China, but this could open a new front in Europe's trade battle with Asian countries that pay low wages and threaten jobs in the EU. The issue deals with the export of hard-capped workers' shoes, and if the EU prevails, it can impose customs duties.
