The European Union (EU) will block China-made trousers shipped after July 12, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce website reported on Sunday. By midnight Aug 9, the export volume of trousers made in China and exported to the EU had exceeded the maximum of 104.405m, according to new data released by the European Commission (EC). Trousers shipped before July 12 will be approved to enter the European market. On June 11, China and the EU reached an accord under which the EU agreed to stop investigations of 10 categories of textile products from China, and both sides agreed that exports of those items could increase by only 8%-12.% by the end of 2007.
