EU to impose tariffs on Chinese plug-in hybrids

The European Commission plans to impose countervailing duties on Chinese hybrid cars, reports Reuters, ‌citing inside sources who spoke to German newspaper Handelsblatt.

Three people involved in discussions told the newspaper that preparations had been made for the European Commission to impose tariffs as soon as a majority of EU member states give their approval.

Handelsblatt said the aim of the Commission is to impose additional countervailing duties on vehicles from Chinese manufacturers such as BYD, Chery and SAIC.
