Executives at WeChat, Weibo called in by regulator after sex tape goes viral

The Cyberspace Administration of China said it had summoned executives from social networking sites WeChat and Weibo after a sex tape shot in the changing room of a Beijing outlet of clothing retailer Uniqlo went viral on both platforms, prompting many to begin taking selfies outside the Japanese firm’s flagship Sanlitun store, Agence France-Presse reported. “The viral circulation of the obscene fitting room video on the internet has severely violated socialist core values,” the government agency cited an unnamed official as saying. It also suggested the incident could have been a publicity stunt, a claim Uniqlo “firmly” denied in a statement on its website.
