Expo civil aviation alert level

The General Administration of Civil Aviation of China (CAAC) has upgraded the civil aviation alert level ahead of schedule for the upcoming World Expo 2010 in Shanghai.

The alert level in Shanghai has been upgraded from the fourth level (blue) and the third level (yellow) in all civil airports in China since April 1, 2010. Furthermore, it will be upgraded to the third level (yellow) and the second level (orange) during the opening and closing ceremonies of the Shanghai Expo, the Chinese Pavilion Day and the summits.

Reporters learned that the Shanghai Expo civil aviation security office had already signed letters of responsibility with 39 institutions including China Eastern Airlines, Shanghai Airlines and China Aviation Oil to make sure that everything will go smoothly and safely during the Expo.

People’s Daily Online reported that the security office also stressed that all institutions should be aware of the importance of security, pursue a stronger sense of responsibility and mission, and hence win the "battle" of the Shanghai Expo.
