FaceTime brings video-conferencing to mobiles

FaceTime is nothing to do with how long a female takes to get ready
to go out. It is a phrase owned by Apple and indicates a sort of video
conferencing. Apple currently limits FaceTime to Wi-Fi only although
FaceTime over 3G can be achieved by using third party jailbreaking
commercial software.

AppleInsider claims to have learned from an Apple insider that a new
version of the iPad tablet device with a built-in video camera has
progressed to the advanced testing stages and, it is said, is FaceTime
capable.

Softpedia says that coincidentally the news comes on the heels of a
rumor saying Apple plans to extend FaceTime functionality to
computers, including Macs and Windows PCs.

The report is that this new machine will be available from China
Telecom as well as Verizon in the United States.
