Ford said it will build a US$1 billion auto manufacturing plant in Nanjing, Jiangsu province, its second in China. The Nanjing plant will facilitate access to China's rich east-coast market and allow Ford to take advantage of the area's skilled labor force. Ford also has a joint venture in Chongqing with Changan Automobile Co. The Nanjing plant will be operated by Changan Ford Automobile Corp, the two firms� joint venture. Ford said it will also increase production at its Chongqing plant, where it currently makes 150,000 cars per year.
