The former chairman of Gome Electrical Appliances, Huang Guangyu, may be jailed for up to 10 years for insider dealing, the South China Morning Post reported, citing a report in a Beijing newspaper. Huang, also known by the Cantonese romanization of his name, Wong Kwong-yu, has not yet been charged by a court for any specific crime, the report in Beijing city government-run Faji Wanbao said. A formal charge will reportedly be issued in the next four to six weeks. The China Securities Regulatory Commission had accused Huang of manipulating the share price of Beijing Centergate Technologies to profit from trading its shares. He was detained last November for unspecified economic crimes.
