Forty-five US trade associations have signed a letter to President Donald Trump highlighting the economic damage further tariffs on Chinese products will have for consumers, Reuters reports.
“We urge the administration not to impose tariffs and to work with the business community to find an effective, but measured, solution to China’s protectionist trade policies and practices that protects American jobs and competitiveness,” the organisations wrote.
This is the latest voicing of disapproval by American businesses towards Trump’s ‘America First’ protectionist policies. Last week the US Chamber of Commerce released a similar statement urging the President not to put his words into action.
