Health authorities in China announced on Tuesday that four more people have become infected and are critically ill with the H7N9 virus, an uncommon strain of what is known as bird flu, The New York Times reported. The four infected are from the city of Nanjing, northwest of Shanghai, and are between the ages of 32 and 83. Health officials maintain that the virus is spread through contact with infected poultry, and transmission between humans is rare, if not impossible. One of the infected is a poultry butcher, according to a release by the WHO. Health authorities say that no one who has had contact with the four infected people has developed symptoms.
