Chimei Innolux (3481.TPE), an affiliate of Foxconn Technology Group, which has been battered in the media for a spate of suicides at its factories, said a worker at its panel-module display plant may have committed suicide, Bloomberg reported. The man was not a Chimei employee but rather a contractor, a company spokesperson said. Foxconn, the trade name of Taiwan-based Hon Hai Group (2038.HK, 2354.TPE), makes components for electronics designer firms like Apple (AAPL.NASDAQ) and Dell (DELL.NASDAQ, 4331.HK). It was forced to apologize and double worker salaries after the suicides prompted accusations that the company ran a sweatshop.
