France and China sign 15 business contracts worth billions of euros

March 26, 2019

France signed 15 business contracts with China worth billions of euros, including a 300-plane order with Airbus and a €1 billion contract for EDF to build an offshore wind farm in China, said Reuters.

Other deals include France’s Fives and China National Building Materials Group’s € 1 billion deal to cooperate on energy savings in developing countries and shipping line CMA CGM and China State Shipbuilding Corporation’s € 1.2 billion deal to build 10 container ships.

France and China also made an agreement to lift an embargo on French poultry exports, which was implemented by China following bird flu outbreaks in France.

China’s deals with France come at a time of heavy scrutiny towards Chinese investment and business within the EU, with France previously calling on member states to take a harsher stance on China.
