US Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz said on Wednesday that the Chinese buyer of assets of bankrupt electric car-maker Fisker Automotive would have to keep manufacturing and research in the US, Bloomberg reported. Chinese-backed bidders Hybrid Tech Holdings and Wanxiang America are competing in US bankruptcy court for the remains of Fisker, an Energy Department loan recipient that stopped making its luxury plug-in hybrid cars in 2012. Fisker last year defaulted on its US$529 million low-interest loan after drawing down about US$192 million. Moniz said that no matter who the winner is, technology transfer limitations will be applied.
