Gimpo-Beijing flights set to open 'soon'

A new flight route connecting Gimpo Airport in Seoul and Beijing’s Capital International Airport will open most likely before the end of this year.
An official at South Korea’s Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs said, "We are fine-tuning with Korean and Chinese airlines to operate the Gimpo-Beijing route from the end of this year."
Passengers will be able to save half an hour of travel time to and from the airport if they fly in and out of Gimpo instead of Incheon International Airport.
The two countries agreed to open the new Gimpo-Beijing route in principle last year but there has been a jam at the Beijing end with no additional time slots available.
The Chosun Ilbo reports that Seoul is negotiating with China to reduce the frequency of Incheon-Beijing flights and replace them with Gimpo-Beijing flights.
