General Motors Corp (GM) announced that its profits from its China joint ventures in the first quarter of 2004 totaled US$162 million. The US-based carmaker's first quarter profits grew by almost 400% year-on-year. In the first quarter of 2003 GM reported profits of US$44 million from its China joint ventures .
