Google (GOOG.NASDAQ) vice president for the Asia-Pacific Daniel Alegre said the company’s advertising revenues in China are growing as demand for advertising and export marketing adds customers, Bloomberg reported. Alegre said combined revenues from display advertisements, online search and Chinese companies marketing on Google sites has increased in 2010. He did not give specific numbers. Google lost search market share to Baidu (BIDU.NASDAQ) following its decision to redirect its servers to Hong Kong to avoid censorship regulations on the mainland. Alan Eustace, senior vice president of engineering and research, said in a separate statement that Google can profit in China from other platforms besides search, including translation services and a site that helps Chinese exporters find customers.
