Government approves break-up of SPC

The Chinese government has approved a plan to break up the State Power Corporation, reported 21st Century Business Herald. The plan involves dividing the company’s generating assets into four independent companies and splitting its transmission network between two companies, one in the north and the other in the south.

Currently, the State Power Corporation owns about half of the country’s generating capacity and all of its electricity grids.
