Up to 60% of graduates leaving universities this year will not be able to find jobs, a report from the National Development and Reform Commission has warned, according to state media. There are to be 22% more graduates completing their studies this year compared to 2005, reaching a total 4.13 million. It is thought there are positions for just 1.66 million fresh university leavers, down 22% year-on-year. "It is hard to create new jobs in large numbers due to surplus production capacity, more trade friction and the revaluation of the yuan," said Zhang Xiaojian, a vice minister at the Ministry of Labor and Social Security. "As a result, it will be less easy to tackle employment pressure."
