A Great Wall Motor official has denied rumors that the company is in talks for a possible tie-up with Tata Motors’ Jaguar and Land Rover brands.
Xu Hui, company secretary of Great Wall Motor, said he had not heard of reports linking his company with the Jaguar and Land Rover brands and was unaware of Jaguar senior executives having visited Great Wall Motor’s factories.
Debasis Ray, spokesman for Tata Motors, was earlier quoted as saying that Jaguar was interested in producing automobiles in China and was currently in talks with its partners.
A high level source within Great Wall also said the company was currently in discussions with Jaguar Land Rover over a potential partnership.
Gasgoo reports that Jaguar Land Rover is aware of the importance of the Chinese market, with Chief Financial Officer Ken Gregor confirming that the manufacturer’s Chinese sales increased 95% to 26,114 vehicles last year.
