AVL has announced an electric vehicle using hydrogen. The advantage is its significantly reduced charging time: refueling with hydrogen only takes a few minutes compared to a few hours for charging a battery.
The AVL Fuel Cell Commuter is the result of a research project conducted in conjunction with Tongji University. The problem is that, of course, your local petrol station does not sell hydrogen on tap. But it shows interesting possibilities. And besides hydrogen, there is the possibility of other bio-fuels.
In China, the demand for electrification of vehicles is high. At the AVL Shanghai Tech Center, a state-of-the-art battery laboratory with testing equipment and simulators has been opened. It is hoped AVL will be able to increasingly offer the customers services directly on site.
iStockAnalyst reports AVL is the world’s largest independent company for development of green power-trains for a variety of vehicles.
