GSK private investigators to be tried 'in secret'

Chinese authorities informed US consular officials on Wednesday that they would not be able to attend the trial of a British investigator and his Chinese-American wife “on grounds of privacy,” Financial Times reported. Peter Humphrey and Yu Yingzeng ran a Shanghai-based investigative firm and were hired last year by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK.NYSE, GSK.LON) to investigate who had placed a camera in the bedroom of the British pharmaceutical firm’s China manager, after a film of the manager in bed with his girlfriend was emailed to a GSK executive. Detained last July, the couple will face one charge of illegally purchasing private information.
