Prompted by interested franchisees and international investors, Guatemalan fast food chicken giant Pollo Campero said Wednesday it would open its first franchise in Shanghai in December as part of a major expansion plan that would eventually establish 500 restaurants in China. Meanwhile, the company is working on building name recognition in the Mainland and gearing up its local operations. Pollo Campero has more than 200 franchises in the US, Mexico and Central America.
