From the end of this month Hainan Airlines will be flying non-stop Beijing to Bangkok. It has already been flying Beijing to Bangkok for two months.
Hainan Airlines is based in Haikou and is in the middle of a major expansion of its routes, including Beijing to Toronto, Beijing to Cairo and Hangzhou to Sydney flights. These are all planned to be in operation by the end of this year.
Hainan Airlines has already opened more than 500 domestic and international routes covering Asia, Europe, America and Africa.
According to BBN, Hainan Airlines is partly owned by international financier George Soros. But in the last few weeks it has acquired pretty much all the shareholding in Yangtze River Express, Capital Vue reports.
