It's official 80% of Chinese people are "happy", according to a survey by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. However, not all agreed with the great news according to the South China Morning Post. Many respondents on the academy's website dismissed the survey, one calling it "nonsensical". Many questioned how people can be considered satisfied with their lives when they feel insecure about basic issues such as salary, job and healthcare. Claims that the survey had found Chinese farmers to be, on the whole, happier than urban residents, were also met with derision. "That's a huge joke," the Post quoted one Chinese netizen as saying.
