Harvard hospital considers China expansion

US-based Brigham and Women’s Hospital is weighing a proposal from real estate tycoon Hui Ka Yan to be the first Harvard University-affiliated hospital to expand to China, Bloomberg reported, citing hospital spokeswoman Erin McDonough. In a statement, McDonough said that Brigham and Women’s Hospital is exploring “the possibility of collaborating” with Hui’s Evergrande Real Estate Group (3333.HKG) on a facility in China. Evergrande said in a press release that it reached an agreement with the hospital and is seeking a site for the project. Evergrande announced a donation in December for three academic research centers at Harvard. The gift is unrelated to the China proposal, McDonough said.
