[photopress:holidayinnlido.jpg, full, alignright]Holiday Inn Hotels & Resorts has been named Best Mid-Scale Hotel Brand in Asia Pacific and Best Mid-Scale Hotel Brand in the World at the Business Traveller Asia-Pacific Awards for the sixth consecutive year.
Holiday Inn Hotels & Resorts was established in 1952 and there are currently over 1,400 Holiday Inns globally.
The most recent Holiday Inn launches in the region include Holiday Inn Shifu Guangzhou, Holiday Inn Jasmine Suzhou, Holiday Inn Seaview Qinhuangdao, Holiday Inn Yueyang and Holiday Inn Chengdu West Century City in China. Scheduled to open soon are Holiday Inn Binhai Tianjin and Holiday Inn Jiuzhai Jarpo.
Earlier this year, Holiday Inn Hotels & Resorts also won the China Hotel Pioneer Award, which was presented at the China Hotel Development and Financing Seminar. The award recognises the success of the brand in China since the opening of Holiday Inn Lido Beijing 22 years ago. (And the name Holiday Inn, now part of the InterContinental group, comes from an even earlier time. It was a 1942 movie which was partly written by Irving Berlin and starred Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire. One of the features of the movie was the woeful White Christmas which won Irving Berlin an Oscar which he, uniquely, presented to himself.)
