Taiwan-based electronics manufacturer Hon Hai Precision Industry (also known as Foxconn; 2317.TPE) said one of its supplier’s factories in China had a “workplace issue,” after labor groups reported strikes there, The Wall Street Journal reported. In a statement late Sunday night, Hon Hai said the issue arose at a company called Jiangxi Xin Hai Precision Components in Fengcheng, Jiangxi province. Hon Hai has asked management to “work with its employees and local government representatives to resolve their concerns,” while ensuring they meet the expected standards of workplace and living conditions. Two labor groups alleged that 200 workers went on strike during the night shift on Thursday, before being joined on Friday morning by day shift workers. The workers threatened not to return to the plant until after Chinese New Year in February.
